Dear Kindergarten Families,

A few items for you to know.

Monday  January 21st - Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Monday January 28th - Teacher Workshop Day

·        We have been working on recognizing and writing  the alphabet.  Most students know most letters and most sounds.  We are starting to work on Sight Words.  (see attached list)

·        Students should be able to count to at least 51 by January,  again most students are able to count to 100!  Start counting to 100 by 10’s and 5’s.

·        We have learned to write all the numbers 1-10 and are working on writing the numbers to 31.  .

·        Winter weather has arrived.  Please make sure your students wear appropriate clothing and shoes for outside play.  It would be a good idea to mark your child’s coat with a name.

·        It is coming up on the flu/ cold /sniffles season (won’t end until about April.)  Don’t send your child to school if he/she has had a fever within 24 hours or has vomited within 24 hours. NOT fair to the others who have to be around them.  Sniffles are fine but show them how to use a tissue.

·        Mrs. Dunmire does not tie shoes after January.  I encourage them to practice and learn this skill.  Ciara, with the help of her brother, learned in 3 days.  If they can’t tie yet, a friend can help them.
