General University of Washington Calculus/Chemistry/Physics/Statistics/Accounting Advice (similar advice applies to studying those subjects at other schools):

1) Attend every lecture, quiz section, etc.  Close the laptop and take real notes.  Make ample use of youtube for supplemental lecture material.

2) Attempt every homework problem as soon as possible.  Go to an office hour or study center to get EVERY question answered IMMEDIATELY.  Procrastination = downward grade trajectory.

3) Make appropriate use of the campus tutoring and study centers: Math Study Center Information / Chemistry Study Center Information / Physics Study Center Information / Statistics Study Center Information / CLUE (for the night owls) / Foster Instructional Tutoring Center (FIT)

4) Instructional Center - Special: IC Requires Qualification & Application - The IC is meant for "under-represented minority, first-generation college and economically disadvantaged students."  Use the IC if you qualify!

5) Don't isolate yourself.  Study groups and accessing TA/Professor office hours can help your understanding of the material a tremendous amount.

6) Work through as many previously released exams as possible for each course.

Preparation for UW Math 126 (Sample Schedule for Math 126):

0) Buy a Ti-30x IIS Calculator.  From the UW Website: "THIS IS THE ONLY CALCULATOR MODEL ALLOWED ON EXAMS."

1) Work through 7.5, 7.6, 8.3, and 8.4.  Find your own powerpoint notes.  Find your own youtube videos.

2) Now you are ready for Math 125 Final ExamsExam #1 / Solutions #1 / MANY Exams.  When you are confident on scoring 85%+ raw on those exams (with one 8''x11'' page of notes and a scientific calculator!), move on to Math 126.

3) Work through 11.1-11.7 & 12.1-12.5.  Find your own lecture notes.  Find your own youtube videos.

When the Calculus Book Solutions Tab fails you, switch to calcchat.com and focus on odd problems only.

4) Now you are ready for Math 126 Midterm Exam #1sExam #1 / Solutions #1 / Exam #2 / Solutions #2 / MANY Exams.  When you are confident on scoring 85%+ raw on those exams under timed conditions (50 Minutes Only!), move on to 13.1.  Recently, most professors have allowed one 8''x11'' page of notes.

5) Work through 13.1-14.5.  Focus on odd problems and use calcchat.com.  Find your own lecture notes.  Find your own youtube videos.

6) Now you are ready for Math 126 Midterm Exam #2sMANY Exams.  When you are confident on scoring 85%+ raw on those exams (with your page of notes) under timed conditions (50 Minutes Only!), it is time for Taylor Series review!  Many former KW students found this portion of Math 126 the most relaxing.

7)  Work through 9.1-9.10.  Use UW's Taylor Series Notes and/or use our notes from earlier in the year!  Find your own youtube videos and/or use our links from earlier in the year!

8) Now you are ready for Math 126 Final ExamsExam #1 / Solutions #1 / MANY Exams.  When you are confident on scoring 85%+ raw on those exams (with one 8''x11'' page of notes!), you should be able to get higher than a 2.8 in Math 126.  Beat that median.  Good luck!
