Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who made it to fall goal setting conferences.  I enjoyed getting to know the families of my students and I was delighted by the good turn out this year.  It really does take a village and I am happy to have you all on my team!

Next week, I will be giving the kids an end of unit math assessment to see if they have mastered the Common Core measurement standards.  Students who have been receiving small group intervention for algebra standards, will given an opportunity to prove mastery on these standards as well.  Once the assessments are done, we will begin investigating fractions through hands-on discovery.

In ELA, we will continue reading Esperanza Rising.  All students have a copy of the book and they are expected to bring it home to read independently.  You should expect that your child will have a chapter a assigned as homework on most nights.  This reading should be counted towards the required 30 minutes a night.  On nights that we do not have an assigned chapter, please make sure your child reads a book of her/his own choosing for their required half hour.

Finally, we will be having a Halloween party on Friday October 30th.  Students may bring some treats to share and we will be celebrating after lunch.  There will be alternate activities available for students who do not celebrate this holiday.
