Multi-Tier Intervention

Multi-Tier Intervention (MTI) program is a comprehensive strategy that differentiates instructions to meet the needs of all students. At Daniel, our MTI system addresses both students who are struggling and students who are on grade level academically. We combine universal screening and high quality instruction for all students in reading and math. Teachers work together to plan instructions and monitor students' progress regularly. Student responses to the interventions are measures to determine whether they have made adequate progress.

About Me

I am proud to be one of Daniel Elementary's original teachers when the school first opened its door in 1992.  Before that, I had taught in Viet Nam, then Saint Paul, MN; and Seattle School districts. Through the years, I have taught Kindergarten through 4th grade, and had the privilege to serve as a K-3 Specialist, a Literacy Coach, an Instructional Coach, and an Academic Intervention Specialist here at Daniel Elementary. There're teaching genes in my family: my dad was a well-loved language and literature instructor, my sister is a para-educator, and one of my nieces is currently a celebrated teacher for an indigenous tribe in the highland of Viet Nam.
I am Nationally Board Certified, the most prestigious credential for the teaching profession in K-12 level.  I am a  member of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards' DREAM Team.  I love to read, experiment with new technology, and I do ikebana in my spare time.
